Real-time data on the presence, direction, and speed of traffic flow objects within the road infrastructure enable the use of available communication interfaces for adaptive traffic organization and control, with the aim of achieving optimization and reducing the level of externalities. The variability in the design of sensor devices and systems significantly affects the usability of the collected data in environments involving advanced algorithms, AI, IoT, and machine learning models, thereby creating barriers to fully realizing the potential for fulfilling one of the priority areas of RIS 3, which focuses on smart mobility and transportation systems. Interdisciplinary cooperation among project team members is taking place to define the requirements and parameters for creating a prototype, for which the testing phase can begin first in a laboratory setting and subsequently under real-world traffic conditions.
